What is Christian Music?

Christian music expresses our personal and communal beliefs in Jesus Christ. It demonstrates our praise and love towards the Lord’s teachings, by awakening the deepest part of who we are, through rhythm and gospel. That is why we, God To Zero, as a Christian music initiative love to share our music with you.

Music as a Christian tradition

Music has played a significant role in Christian worship and tradition from the beginning. It was first mentioned in the Old Testament in Genesis 4:20-21, where it was used to praise God when the Ark of the Covenant was delivered to Tabernacle. King David appointed singers and commanded them to raise sounds of joy using harps, lyres and cymbals. Occurrences of music appear throughout many of the Holy Works.

In the New Testament, Ephesians – verse 18, Paul states the following:

“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord”. – Ephesians 5:19

Throughout the centuries, evangelic music has unified good Christians in their faith and it continues to do so today, spreading the Lord’s word through rhythm and psalms.

We can state the following regular themes within the Christian music:

The hymns and melodies make our faith memorable and propagating the music helps millions of people to connect with God in times of need.

Did you know, that Christian music is one of the most diverse musical genres? We tend to identify Christian music not by its musical style, but by the lyrics, the songwriters and the performers. That is why we have diverse musical genres, ranging from reggae and rock, to hip-hop and pop!

Why should you listen to Christian music?

Recent studies have shown that listening to good Christian music has a positive effect on psychological well-being. It heightens self-esteem and overall satisfaction with life. The gospels provide a sense of belonging and strengthen your faith in the love of the Lord.

God created all of us in a unique way, each with our own weaknesses, with our own strengths and with our own tastes in music. Christian music is an extension of these differences and offers a wide array of musical styles, one for each and every one of us.
